Internet Explorer 3 Setup Instructions

  1. Double Click on the Internet Explorer icon
  2. Click Next
  3. Select Manual and Click Next
  4. Click Next
  5. Pick Connect using my phone line
  6. Pick No and click Next
  7. Click Next
  8. Type Computerlynx and Click Next
  9. Type the phone number in that we gave you and click Next
  10. Type your logon name it the User name: box
  11. Type your password in the Password: box and click Next
  12. Select My Internet Service Provider Automatically assigns one and click Next
  13. Type 208.171.80.1 in the DNS Server: box
  14. Type 208.171.80.2 in the Alternate DNS Server: box and click Next
  15. Click Finish
  16. Right click on the Internet Explorer icon and click Properties
  17. Click on the Connection tab
  18. Select the Computerlynx connection and click Properties
  19. Make sure that Log on to network, NetBEUI, and IPX/SPX should be UNchecked. Enable software compression and TCP/IP should be checked.
  20. Click on the Navigation tab
  21. Make sure that Start Page is selected in the Page: box
  22. Type http://www.computerlynx.net in the Address: box
  23. Click on the selection button at the right side of the Page: box and select Search Page
  24. Type http://www.computerlynx.net/engines.htm in the Address: box
  25. Click OK
  26. Click Start...Programs...Internet Mail
  27. If the Browse for Folder window appears, click on the Internet Explorer folder and click OK
  28. Click Next
  29. Type your name or whatever you want to appear in emails in the box.
  30. Type your logon name@cplx.net and click Next
  31. Type mail.computerlynx.net in the Incoming Mail Server: box
  32. Type mail.computerlynx.net in the Outgoing Mail Server: box and click Next
  33. Type your logon name in the Email Account: box
  34. Type your password in the Password: box and click Next
  35. Click I use a modem to access my email
  36. Select Computerlynx under the Use the Following Dial-Up Networking connection and click next
  37. Click Finish
  38. Close Internet Mail
  39. Click Mail and select Read News
  40. Fill this screen in identical to the previous screen that looked like this and click Next
  41. Type news.computerlynx.net in the News Server: box
  42. Make sure that My News Server requires me to log on is UNchecked
  43. Click Next
  44. Fill this screen in identical to the previous screen that looked like this and click Next
  45. Click Finish
  46. Close Internet News
  47. Click on Help and select About Internet Explorer
  48. If the second line says Version 3.0 or Version 3.01, you should download version 3.02 from us. To do this, click on the Download button on our web site. Then click on the first Internet Explorer icon on the left (not on the right). Click on the index.txt files for a description of each file in a directory.
